Should one's sexual preferece be a criteria in determining their ability to be a parent via adoption, tradional, or scientific means?
This was a very heated topic in a previous class and the views were vast and interesting, so I wanted the provoke the same type of discussion in this class as well!!!
Yes, I feel that this is a very important criteria because of the effect that it may or may not have on children. Often times children aspire to be like their parents, and though some of us may believe that sexual preference is part of our biological make-up, lately it seems to be the latest trend; children can become very confused with same sex parents.
I have to agree as well with " tiredstudent". Childhood days are the days when what you do and say can affect them for a lifetime. Imagine your child seeing their friends parents at the PTA who are of the opposite sex. Then they look across and see you with the same sex. That makes them feel uncomfortable and of course can cause them to be mocked or talked about.
I have to agree with Sheniqua as well, Sexual preference is an important criteria in determining their ability to raise a child. I strongly feel that a man and woman should raise a child, reason being when the child gets older he/she will have a lot of questions.
I strongly disagree that sexual preference should be a criteria in determining their ability to be a parent. There are many adults that were raised by heterosexuals and still become homosexuals later in their lives. If sexual preference should be a criteria in adopting and raising children, why is it that many adults, that were raised by heterosexual, still become homosexuals?I think that communication plays an important factor in a child's development not the type of family he or she has. If homosexual parents talked to their children and explain their sex preference , children will be able to be understanding and also educated.
This is a touchy topic. I will state what I stated on Mr. Gumb's blog. Different is ok. Humans want/need love. Is it better to stay without adoptive parents because the only option is a homosexual? Or is love from humans all we need to grow to be happy, healthy, well rounded individuals? I think we need each other and one's sexual preference (for dogs, cats, horses, same or different sex) is irrelevant to most of the things to which we apply it.
This is controversial... i think of myself as a very open minded and tolerant individual and i respect everyone's opinion on this. There have been documented results that the sex of the parents being the same or different has similar and varying results. I personally think that a child should be raised by different sex parents. I mean yeah same sex parents sometimes do as good a job and even better job than the traditional parent set in many cases and sometimes worst. i mean love conquers all and all that.... but ask yourself this... a person can drive a car steering with their feet in high a traffic area and have some level of success but should it be done????
I mean God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.... nor Eve and Eva.. just a thought.
"Touch-It" that comparison is just CRAAAAAZZY!! Can you really compare being raised by a homosexual to DRIVING A CAR with your FEET??
In any even, there are many things that are occurring in our society that GOD did not intend, yet people do it everyday without so much as batting an eyelash!
People rob from their fellow man, steal, rape, kill, yet some how being "homosexual" seems to be a bigger taboo than all of those.. I don't get it!
There are children being raised in foster homes by "heterosexuals" that abuse them and use them just for the money! So are you saying that it is okay because their "family composition" fits the "norm"??
This is a touchy topic lol. I feel that ones sexual preference should determine the criteria for the ability to become a parent. I'm not sure how the children will turn out but like was said earlier most kids want to be just like their parents.

ReplyDeleteYes I feel it will matter because two people of the same sex aren't suppose to raise a child its a man and woman job.
